New Dial Indicator System : Providing an easier adjustment process

This dial indicator mount allows the technician to easily and accurately verify the proper wheel bearing adjustment after bearing adjustment has been completed. Proper bearing adjustment prolongs the life of the wheel bearings, wheel seal, and increases tire life.

Our Dial Indicator

Features

Information

  • Super strong 100-pound industrial magnets to make sure mount stays in place on the hub.
  • Dial indicator mount has ¼” thumb screw for easy adjustment with no tools required.
  • Very fast installation and easy to set up for the technician.
  • The standoff legs are adjustable with different size spacers for multiple applications.
  • Available with or without a dial indicator.
  • This is an option for no indicator as some technicians already have a dial indicator and there are a lot of options from electronic to analog .0001” indicators.

Indicator Instructions

  1. After bearing adjustment and/or jam nut torque procedures have been completed, place the dial indicator on the hub with the indicator needle touching the end of the axle. The magnets on the base of the legs will grip the hub firmly.
  2. With equal pressure on both sides of the hub, push the hub inboard with about 40-50Lbs. of force with slightly rotating the hub 4-5 degrees to seat the bearings.
  3. Set the dial indicator at “0.”
  4. Pull the hub out with about 40-50Lbs. of force while slightly rotating the hub 4-5 degrees.
  5. The dial indicator shows the amount of bearing end play in total hub movement.
  6. Acceptable endplay is .001” - .005” per TMC RP618C

  • 1/4" (.250) thick TN & TP Trailer axle plate that can be used to check endplay on an aluminum hub. The steel plate would be bolted to the aluminum hub using the removed hub cap bolts. This bracket is Zinc plated to prevent rusting, and please note that you will need two of these plates to install one on each side of hub to match up to the dial indicator magnets. The hub bolt pattern is drilled for multiple patterns with 5 1/2" and 6 3/4" circle with six 5/16" bolts. The TN trailer hub cap flange is 5-1/2" x 6 bolts, and the TP trailer hub cap flange is 6-3/4" x 6 bolts.

  • 1/4" (.250) thick Steer axle (FF) plate that can be used to check endplay on an aluminum hub. The steel plate would be bolted to the aluminum hub using the removed hub cap bolts. This bracket is Zinc plated to prevent rusting, and please note that you will need two of these plates to install one on each side of hub to match up to the dial indicator magnets. The hub bolt pattern is for a 4-1/2" x 6 bolts.

  • 1/4" (.250) thick "R" Drive axle plate that can be used to check endplay on an aluminum hub. The steel plate would be bolted to the aluminum hub using the nuts that hold the drive axle in place. This plate will also include two 3D printed spacers that will take up some of the room between the bracket and hub because of the length of the stud. This bracket is Zinc plated to prevent rusting, and please note that you will need two of these plates to install one on each side of hub to match up to the dial indicator magnets. The hub bolt pattern is drilled to fit hubs with 5/8" and/or 3/4" drive axle flange studs with 7" on center with 8 studs.
